(5) Future Plan? 'Bawa' has to Sing and Whistle! ( Posted on 25/11/2024)

There is a great News for all Saxerians and Railfans across the world! The new Young, Energetic and Learned Director of SGSITS-Dr. Nitesh Purohit, who has joined college only two months back, has happily agreed; during the meeting with him on 23/12/2024 in his Office, on the proposal of shifting 'Bawa' from crowded  Parking area to the main Entrance in front of Director's Office.🙏

He has entrusted the job of shifting to Prof. Milind Dandekar, Dean Administration. Prof Dandekar has already  initiated the job proactively.

Prof Narulkar, Prof R C Gupta, Prof Sudhir Tiwari and many others are also providing much needed moral support in this regard.

I thank Dr. Nitesh Purohit and his great team once again on behalf of all Saxerians and Railfans across the world to have appreciated the facts about the Centenarian 'Bawa' and begun the process to shift the same.🙏

Would also like to thank all the Blog-readers, Saxerians, friends, Batchmates and the family  for appreciating the efforts put in by this blogger to unearth more information about 'Bawa'.🙏

According to retired Professor Narendra Nagar Sir, this Steam Engine (Bawa) was there  when he entered in College as a student in 1962!  So 'Bawa' is blessing the college for at least 62 years!!

'Bawa' remained in open space  outside Heat Engines Laboratory for appriximately 50 years. It was nicely painted for the first time and  moved to a place right in front of  the New building ( ATC building) approximately ten to fifteen years back. (Will write the exact dates after finding out from College Professors.)

It remained in front of the new building only for a few years and then it was shifted  to its current position of Parking Area. This year an Information Centre has also been opened by the SGSITS Alumni Association just in front of 'Bawa' as can be seen from the photograph given above.

A lot of information is displayed about the Alumni Association in the Information Centre regarding the wonderful jobs they have done in the past. They deserve all the praise for that, no doubt about it. 🙏

Had requested President (Shri  DL Goyal) and Secretary (Shri Girish Gupta) of SGSITS Alumni Association on 21/11/2024 through a letter sent via WhatsApp to kindly write something about 'Bawa' too on the side wall of the Information Centre.

They kindly gave their valuable  time to meet on 11/12/2024. Met them and explained everything about 'Bawa'. They heard  patiently and  asked to submit a print out of the request sent to them on WhatsApp to enable them put the matter in front of a committee. As desired, have submitted an originally signed printout to them on 16/12/2024.

As Bawa will be moved to a more prominent and respectable place, now we can devote more time to know about a handful of Industrial Steam Engines, distant relatives of Bawa, that have survived in our Country. We all will be able to appreciate the real worth of 'Bawa' after reading the next two articles.

We will discuss in the next article about an Industrial Steam Engine, similar to our own 'Bawa', kept prominently at National Railway Museum Delhi.

P.S.: This blog started as a 'Byproduct' of  'Rail Sangeet' which got derailed for a few months!  As the primary objective of highlighting the importance of 'Bawa' has been accomplished to a certain extent, now Rail Sangeet can again be put on the rail. You may wish to read recap of Rail Sangeet so far by clicking on this article in Hindi: रेल संगीत का पहला पड़ाव
